The City of Lake Alfred is seeking a dedicated Service Worker II to support the operation and maintenance of our wastewater, water collection, and distribution systems. This is a full-time, non-exempt position offering the opportunity to work hands-on in a vital public service role.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform tests and readings on wastewater systems.
• Pump sludge and remove debris from wet wells.
• Conduct operational checks at the wastewater plant, pump house, and lift stations.
• Collect and assist with sample analysis.
• Maintain equipment and keep facilities clean and orderly.
Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of wastewater plant operations experience or equivalent training/experience.
• Ability to operate utility-related equipment and follow written/oral instructions.
• Knowledge of mechanical equipment, tools, and occupational safety.
Licenses:
• Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
• Class B CDL required or the ability to attain one within one year of hire.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
• Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Must be able to perform manual labor, lift up to 70 lbs., and safely operate tools and vehicles.
