TITLE: Service Worker III
DEPARTMENT: Public Works – Roads & Streets Division
SALARY SCHEDULE: Grade 7, Regular Full-Time
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
GENERAL DESCRIPTION :
Responsible for maintenance and care of city streets, alleys, right of ways, stormwater utilities, and city-owned buildings. Must be skilled to act on behalf of the superintendent in his absence. Must be able to drive large trucks, backhoes, and other large equipment. Must know FDOT requirements for traffic, right of way, road and sidewalk maintenance, repair, and construction. Must be able to operate general lawn equipment. Accountable to and works under the direction of the superintendents and Public Works Director.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain city streets, alleys, right of ways, stormwater utilities, and city-owned buildings.
- Knowledge of FDOT requirements for traffic, road and sidewalk maintenance, repairs, and construction.
- Maintain, repair, and upkeep of city buildings.
- Secures buildings and checks heating, ventilating, and air conditioning units; makes minor maintenance repairs; replaces light bulbs; installs light switches; replaces fuses; repairs door locks; replaces window glass; makes basic repairs to furniture.
- Acts in the absence of the superintendent. Directs personnel.
- Work occasionally on weekends, nights, holidays, and special events.
- Works On-Call rotation.
- Position may be designated as mission-critical by the Department Director.
- Perform other related duties as directed or required by the Public Works Director.
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, TRAINING, & EXPERIENCE):
- High school graduate or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
- Should have two (2) years of experience in truck driving, street maintenance, or a similar field.
- A comparable amount of education, training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION:
- Valid Florida Driver’s License – Class “B” CDL.
- Class “C” Stormwater Certification must be obtained within the first (1) year of employment.
- Must obtain and maintain a (Chapter 482) Limited Certification Florida Lawn and Ornamented Pesticide Applications license within one (1) year of employment.
